Becoming a physical therapist?

I have several questions about becoming a physical therapist?

  • 1) If i major in Kinesselogy and history in undergraduate and graduate school could i still become a physical therapist? 2) If i go to a university that does not have physical therapy program could i still become with just my degrees in kenesology and history? (i know this question seems obvious but i still want to know for sure because i want to go to Oxford university and they only have a program for cognitive therapy) 3) For the pre requisite courses required, are those the courses for physical therapy or for the major(in my case kininsolgy)? 4) what are some other really good schools for physical therapy?

  • Answer:

You can major in anything for undergrad in order to apply to PT school. It is your pre reqs and gpa that is what DPT programs are looking at. You need to attend a CAPTE accredited DPT program in order to get a DPT degree and be eligible to sit for the national PT exam. 3. I have given you the link to all of the pre reqs for every school 4. Any school that is accredited is fine. You will get a job no matter where you go. Where I work of 15 PT, we have therapist that went to 6 different schools. Go where you get the best financial packages. http://www.capteonline.org/uploadedFiles/CAPTEorg/About_CAPTE/Programs/Accredited/PrerequisiteGrid.pdf
