Why is it important to study social sciences?

Pick a current social problem. How would two of the social sciences study it from different perspectives? ?

• Social studies being anthropology psychology economics political science One that I can up with is the way people spend there money (I'm unsure of my guess, so that is why I am asking this question, to get some ideas). But my guess is how careless people are with there money. That is leading more people broke and having to take part of our welfare system taking away from our social security from my generation when they get older, and want to retire. Social studies that I would choose to help with this would be ... I'm not exactly sure.

  This problem can be studied best from sociology and political science, with perhaps some psychology thrown in.. From a sociological perspective, we in the west have had a far greater proportion of wealth for hundreds of years. We have plundered the wealth of third world countries without compunction, we have over developed our nations and created more wealth and technology than we need or can possibly use. We have also waged illegal wars which have cost a much greater amount than the total welfare system of the world. This can be seen politically in the way in which we inform our people that "welfare" is "bad". and that rises in the prices of oil are necessary, when they are not. Most of our countries which have been involved in recent wars have actually destroyed more sources of oil than they have gained. Psychologically, some of us just wish for instant gratification and waste our time and money on the latest technological gadgetry and prefer to forget, or never learn of, the abject poverty in the rest of the world.
