    A score of 120 (regardless of age) is good--above average. The validity of the test is based on how, when, where and by whom it is administered. Internet-based tests are *not* a real indicator of IQ score, for the most part. Properly administered IQ tests are a valid instrument for measuring a certain *TYPE* of intelligence. Many critics, however, are beginning to question whether there aren't other, equally important forms of innate intelligence. We all know that sometimes social intelligence outranks logical intelligence. Look at how little "geeks" and "nerds" are respected in our society. Here in the US, we like our smart people not too smart and not too introverted. Yet, for some reason, high IQ persists as a desirable quality. Again, the test is a valid instrument--it does a very accurate job of testing for *something*. The larger question, becomes, then, do we care about the findings of IQ tests?

If they are multiple choice, I think in no way are they accurate, beacause you can just guess and have a chance of getting it correct, while if you have essay questions, it will truly test your IQ.

100 means average. Above 100 means above average. A person can take 10 IQ tests and range from retarded to genius. It depends on a test. To get one done properly, it must be done by a trained professional, like a psychologist, and have a battery of tests.

the internet ones are not so good but done by a professional can be very accurate, however IQ is like potential it doesnt mean your using all of it necessarily

I agree with fungus brains. When I went to get tested for ADD at a psychologist, she gave me an IQ test and I scored 127. But when I took one online I scored 74. That would've meant I was mentally challenged. So a trained professional like a psychologist is the best way to get an accurate score.

Yes i do because i took one and i scored 115 and that means i'm above average. How cool is that? So there is this place called ticlke.com where you can take an IQ test.

Bear in mind that there are different types of intelligence. A friend of mine has a 200 IQ, and he lacks the common sense to tell vice grips from come alongs. If you have 120 you're in good shape, so don't sweat it.

IQ tests measure "something" and they work to measure that "something". What that "something" is, is what the problem is. Whether that "something" is other than the ability to score on the IQ test is the question. The tests are culturally and linguistically biased to the point of being somewhat useless in multicultural environments.
