Which career is better ?

Psychologist or psychiatrist? Which career would be better for me?

  • And i put "better" in speech marks because 'better' is a subjective term; what i really mean by it is, which career is better in your opinion, and why? If it's relevant to which career would be best, the school subjects i'm good at are English (lit & lang), languages and biology. I'm also relatively good at chemistry. Clinical psychologist or psychiatrist - which do you think would be better for me? Thanks =D

  • Answer:

It's all about how much school you want to go through. Psychiatrists have to go through medical school first and then specialize in psychiatry after that. You'll be in school for around twelve years, but they make a lot of money. Clinical psychologists do not go to medical school, rather, just get their PhD in psychology. They aren't going to make as much as a psychiatrist would, but it's still a pretty big salary. So it's up to you.

Given the Biology and Chemistry, a Psychiatrist would make better use of the subjects you're good at. A Psychiatrist is merely an M.D who has a specialization is psychiatric medicine.
