Is it a good practice to plagiarize answers from wikipedia or google and those answers selected as the best?

instead of mentioning as it is source some people directly lift pages of pages and those answers being selected as the best deprives of other people who give answers in their own words, selected as the best answers.don't they know the questioner can get answer without asking by searching google or yahoo search? my point is people should mention the source and as far as possible without directly copying, should give answers in their own language.

Answer:
i don't think it is a good practice.people who have strong desire to rob of goods of others in their unconscious resort to such type of practices. the very purpose of starting this platform will be defeated by plagiarizing from google search or yahoo search and declaring them as their own without mentioning the source.some questioners without knowing this , selecting those answers as the best.

I should think that obscure links would be helpful--but direct copying from Wikipedia.org or a similar source is probably reiterating information that the person has already been able to find easily.

I agree with you. That's why I alway cite my answers or simply just give a link to the original site.

When I go to Google or elsewhere on line to find an answer to a question, it's to answer the question. Plagerism usually refers to someone turning in an assignment and using others' work word for word. In this forum, it seems that many are just having fun and trying to answer questions for the folks asking them. From the poor usage of the English language I've seen here: run on sentences, improper subject verb stuff and such, I think that maybe copying useful information from those mentioned sources is the only way some of us can answer! So? Is it really plagerism? Will the grammar police be raiding Yahoo Answers? It's never a good idea to steal, which is what plagerism is. But, this is a pretty informal joint, ain't it?
