Are shy, quiet and introverted people discriminated against and is this fair? 10 points?
-
In society, outgoing people seem to have it easier and even tend to get farther than quiet people, as a whole. (as a whole=key words). In schools, the quiets kids are usually the ones who get picked on, bullied and/or are thought of as "weird" With jobs, EVERY occupation wants an "outgoing employee" over a "quiet employee". It doesn't matter if you're a receptionist or a scientist. They still always want an outgoing person over a quiet When it comes to self improvement in magazines, books, (even from counselors) etc., being quiet may not directly be stated as a negative thing, but it's implied. It is often suggested that being outgoing is "the way to be" and you must have a problem if you're not always in the mood to be social. These are just a few examples I've observed as a quiet person. Is any of this fair? Or even correct?

Answer:
Hi Hi, Like yourself for who you are and don't compare yourself to others. Always remember; never compare yourself to others; it's not healthy or helpful to you in any way. Shyness is a very admirable characteristic. Shy/introverted people make excellent listeners and excellent friends. They are usually very perceptive, sensitive, giving, caring human beings just like any other person. They have an excellent awareness of their surroundings and themselves which is only an asset. Shyness is not a flaw; it's just part of a persons personality and it is attractive. It's just a word and we are all shy at different times depending on who we are with.

I believe that being "quiet" is discriminated against in almost any public place within the United States, and it's absolutely not fair. People aren't raised intentionally to be a quiet person, it just happens based on parenting, childhood experiences, and their own unique brain. Therefore being mean or looking down upon someone who is quiet is actually a form of discrimination, which really isn't just at all. In every place you will see that an outgoing or talkative person will get along better with a group of people. So many people do try to better themselves so that they are not so quiet, and more outgoing.

Its not fair...I get in trouble for being quiet and shy all the time. My parents get mad, my boyfriend does and teachers at school. When I talk to people they think I immediatly don't like them becuase I'm not talking as much as they are. I was threatened to get jumped after school twice by some juggalette and her emo friend becuase I didn't talk to them, so they said I was snotty and **** and I got suspended from school for it.
