What are psychological tests about?

If you had a psychological patient, what kinds of tests would you run on him/her?

  • like theres the rorshach, the words assessment, brain scans? what else?

  • Answer:

First, the patient receives Lab Test and complete blood count. This rules out other conditions/diseases and screens for drugs/alcohol. The patient's physical and psychiatric history are also checked. Second, the patient receives a Psychological Evaluation. This determines mental health, the presence of psychosis, and judges their appearance, demeanor, thoughts, moods, delusions, and/or hallucinations. A doctor performs this evaluation. Further tests may include imaging studies: fMRI (real-time) MRI (snapshot) CT Scan (brain cross-sections) The Rorschach Test is no longer used as a mainstream psychological test for mental health. We call this kind of test a pseudo-scientific test because it is difficult to prove its legitimacy. If you want more of this kind of test, you'd be looking for things like hypnosis, phrenology, enneagrams, and graphology. Just fyi. Hope this helps!
