Why do quiet people get bullied?

  • So I used to be pretty outgoing when I was little. I'm in college now & I'm not really a talkative person anymore. Basically, the older I get, the more reserved I am. I hate the thought of having to be an adult. I do enjoy working & going to school like an adult. I'm good at saving money. I started college last fall & made the Dean's list last semester. I just hate hanging around adults. I wish I was still a kid. I hated junior high & high school because everyone wanted to be an adult. I hate doing adult activities. I hate drinking, drugs, partying & sex. I hate everything about it. I hate the thought of dating & getting married. I don't ever want a girlfriend because women aren't what I thought they were. I am religious, so I don't if the fact that I strive to have morals has something to do with me hating the worldly desires of adults or not. I go to school & work out of the fear of God. I could care less about money. I never spend money on myself anyway. Maybe I have some neurological disorder; I don't know. Most people think being religious is a neurological disorder. That's just the way Atheists think. The point is, I'm really quiet because I don't like socializing with adults. I don't like having "adult" conversations. So, I'm going to get picked on the rest of my life for being shy. Why do quiet people get bullied in the first place? Thanks & God Bless

    That's a tough question, It all comes down to the fact that we have an outgoing society, and also one that can be cruel to those that are different. Americans have a tendency to be superficial, I mean half the commercials you see say something like "Get toned with ProGym" or something, so someone who keeps to themselves and doesn't flaunt is seen as different. Now it is a well established thought that Americans don't like people who are different. That is why quiet people are bullied, this seems to be a very American trait, as in other countries it is quite different. But don't get down, just go and see other societies, you'll see things can be different than what is typical here.

Bullies think just because you are quiet, that you are a softy and really easy to pick on. Drugs, drinking, and sex is not going to help you at all!!! it will only make it worse! But the best thing to do is BE YOURSELF!! and if they continue (this is going to sound like 7th grade) take some action and tell a somebody who can maybe help you stop them, like a teacher or something. Just keep praying, God can help you through all this. I wish I was still a kid too. Keep going in life, something good is sure to come out of it. You are in college to get educated and learn so you can get a job at something you are really good at and make a lot of money out of it, no it party all night. You'll do fine...

Bullies look for weak people. You have to stand your ground or be miserable. Take a bully on and he/she will leave you alone.

i feel the same but i dont mind talking to adults lol im also religious but you have to understand growing is a part of life and u cant control it. i was always quiet and shy...still am, but i manage to talk to people. maybe you should try being more outgoing again. you dont need to party and drink..play a sport or video games. but dude, face reality, we all cant be young forever. pray to God and hope for the best.
