How do you interpret the "scratchy" sound of rock music?
-
Probably based on its origins and social-history? PS If you know of any worthy source on this subject, I'd be more than grateful. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
'Scratchy' rock, or heavy rock, evolved in the 70's from arena rock and traditional rock, which in turn originated from rockabilly, which came from country music. I dunno. I'm probably not even right. I don't know what you're asking. It doesn't even make sense really. You ask how we interpret it based on it's history. What does that mean? How we 'interpret' it?
