Is it possible to dream about the future?

I keep having the same dream. Does anyone know about recurring dreams and their ability to fortell the future?

  • Before Hurricane Andrew formed in the Atlantic a few years back, I had a dream where my family and I were in a building with glass walls for the front. A second later there was rushing dirty, mucky water coming at the building. Before the water could hit us, I woke up. Then Andrew came. Several weeks later I had the same dream. I always thought the dream had foretold the events of the Hurricane. Last night I had a very similar dream where half my family was in my room, and half the other in another. Each room was dark and had only one french door (frame with glass). Similar water came rushing at the room I was in and I fought to keep the door closed. The water did not break through the glass though. In the dream I also saw my brother fighting to keep the door closed against the rushing water as well. In the midst of the struggle, I woke up. Could this be a dream like the one I had before Hurricane Andrew? Do dreams sometimes foretell the future? What significance does this water hold?

  • Answer:

i highly believe some people can see things in dreams because many of my dreams gave me premonitions exp. i saw the 911 attack 10 before it happened i told my family of course the thought i was crazy i had a tape recorder on as i told them then when i heard about it on the news i called them up it was exactly the way i said but anyways always pay attention to your dreams no matter how silly or odd they are

I think you should listen to your dreams. My mom once had a dreams that I was swept away into the ocean and she was running after me. She couldn't reach me and I died. The next day we were all supposed to go clamming, but my mom got sick. She didn't want to scare anyone, so she just suggested that I should stay home with her. When they all got back something horrible happened. My brother almost died and everyone got a really good scare. The water just kept rising and trapping them....they all almost died in fact. It was horrible. I believe that if I would have gone, I would be dead. Listen to your dreams and do what you think you is best...

Dreams are just a collection of thoughts put together while you are asleep. Your mind keeps going, but you're not awake to control it, so everything you've thought about are put together randomly. Dreams can be symbolic, though. Maybe you are having a struggle in your life but you are able to keep going. Or maybe the water is temptation and you are fighting to resist it. Just think on it, only you can figure this one out.

You have to get to the end. Make a different choice. You have to finish the dream and the maybe you will figure out what it's about.

If your emotional life this time and last time is rough and turbulent, like the water in your dreams, I would say that the meaning of these dreams is not literal, but symbolic, and that the water in your dreams is a symbol for your emotions, like water is a common symbol for emotional life and emotions. If the water in your dreams has always been calm, your emotional life must have been calm too. If it gets rough now, your emotional life must be getting rough now, too. Dreams are literal, symbolic or sometimes both. The first dreams could be about the hurricane, but they could also be about your emotional life. In that case the building you were in is a symbol for the atmosphere, you are living in. You (your mind) was like the building, 'open' at the front. You could see in the outer world, and others could see in your inner world. Rooms are a part of a building, and in dreams they are a symbol for parts of the atmosphere of the building they're in. In your last dream I see the darkness of the rooms as a symbol - for the darkness in the (partial) atmospheres, you and your family are in. There is no clarity in them, you cannot see yourself very well in darkness, like you cannot see your body very well in a dark room. The only light in these 2 rooms comes from the doors (in glass frames), and the only thing you and your family can see inside your minds is the dirty rushing water that you are trying to keep out (symbol for: rushing, dirty emotions, that threaten you). But you can keep these emotions out of your consciousness, as you and your family can keep the water out of the rooms. You're living in the mist of a struggle, so to say. Dreams are symbolic, they are then showing such a misty struggle in a literal way. In my opinion, dreams do not always tell future, but sometimes, they do. They could tell the future in a material way (Andrew coming), but also in a symbolic way (the state of mind, you're in). Water then is a symbol for your emotions, touching and affecting you; and wind (also hard wind, storms) is touching your world of ideas, your understanding, your opinions and thinking - it is a 'storm in your life'. Normally a hurricane is hard winds, coming to you, but in these dreams they seem to bring water, therefore your dreams must be about your emotional life and the emotional life of your family. This is my opinion about your dreams. peter. === Hello Paige, In your dreams it works about the same, I guess. If I understand you well, you were able to walk on the low wooden decks with water on it, and the water was at your feet. Then your dreams are about your emotions, that you are, so to say, walking in. That the water was black means that you could not see in these emotions (how they were). Clear emotions are emotions you can 'see through', you can know how they are. Riding a bike is a means of transport, in real life. You move your body walking, riding a bike, in a car, boat, train etc. In dreams it often is, in my opinion, a symbol for how you are moving inside yourself (of how you 'move in life'). Riding a bike often means: 'moving yourself in a relaxed way' (not fast & hurrying as in a car for instance). The clarity of your emotions made you go on in a relaxed way, I guess. Snakes are animals and animals are often a symbol for our (somewhat) lower consciousness. Lower than human consciousness. Animals are often a symbol for parts of our character. Like Donald Duck and other animals, for instance. Snakes are animals that live in water, I think they symbolize that there is consciousness of you living inside these emotions. Snakes look scary, but if they do not harm you or scare you in your dreams, I would not be scared of them. In the bible there is the story of a bad snake (tempting Eve). But not all symbolic snakes are bad, like not all real snakes are bad. It is like humans, there are good humans and of cause you can also meet bad humans. Maybe you could see the snakes in your dream as 'feeling' animals, as a 'feeling consciousness'. You can compare them with for instance ducks, like Donald Duck. He, being a duck, lives in an emotional way, he can be enthousiastic, scared, angry, and so on. A duck lives at the surface of the water (mostly floating on the water), but a snake is living deeper, he's all of the time living inside the water. So these snakes will be a symbol for consciousness, living deeper in emotions, I would say. I think this dream is about something you experienced the day before you got this dream, it wanted to explain you how you were dealing then with your emotions. peter. === Hello Sheboygan, An ocean is most times a symbol for what they call 'your unconsciousness'. For deeper feelings inside your that are so deep that you cannot even feel them. I think this dream told your mother that you would almost going to be swept away (the next day) into your unconscious feelings. Unconscious feelings are feelings that you do not feel, in your normal life. I think the dream then tell her, that it was her, who could keep you (and your emotions) in the right place. So that you could stay knowing, what you were feeling and would not become lost in feelings that came from so deep inside yourself, that you could not even know them. I think this dream did not foresay that your brother would be in danger, but it was only about you and her, saving your emotions the next day. peter. ===

I had a similar question~ mine has to do w/ water also. It is always smooth , calm, but every where... I have had this dream before our hurricanes hit,,so it isn't that. Once I was able to walk all around on low wooden decks which the water was dark,, then,,, later on it change to clear water,,me riding a bike! and then...small snakes were everywhere in the water........so I am unsure really of whats up///so........ I think that water must be something that a lot of people dream about,,and I am sure someone will know the answer... Good luck & Good night! ( he-he)

you could possibly be psychic, but who knows? just be careful, and if you keep having the same dream, why dont you talk to some kind of person who finds the meaning of dreams?
