What do you think makes successful people successful?

I believe it is a drive to succeed regardless of the odds. It can be difficult because most of us not only believe we will never be successful, we don't believe we'll ever know someone who will become successful. So, when we meet someone with drive, we usually suggest they can never succeed. In other words, peer pressure holds many of us back, so successful people have learned not to succumb to the peer pressure. I can give a personal example of that. I was once in a physics class that was graded on a curve. Due to forming a study group early and studying correctly, me and my best friend were setting the curve for the class. Instead of asking to join our study group (all of us were getting As), other people asked us to blow the final so they would have a chance. We told them "no" and suggested that they join our study group for the second class. They did and boosted their grade a full letter! Another step I think is important is to always look for opportunities and be willing to pursue them. For example, we get comfortable in our current work position and may not pursue advancement for fear of failing. A truly successful person would look for opportunities for advancement, even it put them into a position which made them uncomfortable for some time. So the bottom line is a drive for success and learning how to get past all obstacles.

Determined to just make money - maybe unhappy at their job but love nice things. Determined to not live a certain lifestyle one was once living. NETWORKING is also a huge factor. You may have the same qualifications as John Doe but if mr. employer has played a round of golf with you and knows your personality, it may give you a one up over the next guy. once you've had a taste of success you want more! it's a very addicting thing*
