What is Wall Street?

What's the difference between Wall Street and Main Street?

  • Sometimes, I read that some people live on Wall Street and others live on Main Street. What makes Wall Street different from Main Street? Are not we all citizens of the USA with equal rights?

  • Answer:

Wall street refers to the financial markets and main street refers to the real economy where we work and buy goods and services. They are very inter-connected as we have been finding out recently so it is not two differ worlds but people who earn their living investing do not always have the same interest as people who work in the real economy.

The term 'Wall Street' is used to refer indirectly to financial businesss or people who work in them because Wall Street in New York City is where the New York Stock Exchange is located. The label 'Main Street' is used to refer to other types of businesses and the people who work in them as the main street in towns was traditionally wher shops and retail businesses where located. It is similiar ti the way news media refer to 'Washington' or 'London' , capital cities, when they mean the governments of the counries with those cities.

It's not about rights. It's about wealth. The rich are from the Wall Street. While the rest are from the Main Street. Executives from Wall Street are bathing in cash from their taxpayer guaranteed jobs and bonuses. While the rest are mucking around in debts and getting fired from their jobs.

People who" live at Wall Street " are parasites.
