Its bad enough that children have to suffer for their parents based on their educations, but its intolerable that children with the same grades should not be admitted to college, since colleges are run as private businesses. If you want to say inequality is natural-thats one thing, but when it comes to education being based on wealth of the parents thats aristocracy NOT meritocracy. The thing is that affirmative action is based on race not income. Why should white Hispanic conquistadors get any benefits? Even worse, Asians actually LOSE SAT points in admissions. The way I see it Asians in America have suffered lynchings, discrimination, segregation, slavery, humiliation. California in the 1800s had anti-Chinese pogroms as bad as the Jewish pogroms in Russia. And Japanese internment. The Chinese Exclusion act was worse of all in the long run. The USA basically had open immigration 1820-1920. The Chinese started coming in the 1840s, the same time as the Irish and BEFORE the Germans, Russians, Slavs, Italians and Jews. So I figure if Asian immigration had come at the same rate as Europeans till 1920, this country would be at least 30-40% Asian. And in some ways Asians are still the most discriminate group in America. At least socially they are still "foreigners" and they are the only group you are allowed to insult. Plus we are considered disloyal in conflicts with Philippines, Japan, China, Vietnam, North Korea etc. So on a moral level, I feel I have the right to benefit from any advantages blacks and latinos get on the SAT. And I certainly shouldn't be at a disadvantage to white females, and CERTAINLY NOT white males. So my real question is this. If I put down on my application that I'm of Latino heritage, is there any chance I would be caught? How would I get caught. There is no interview.

    Better brush up on your Spanish. Say, what if your Asian parents had moved to Mexico and you were born there? What would you be then? Personally I think it would be great if EVERYBODY lied on those ethnicity questions, really throw the whole thing into havoc. But then again I'm Whitey, I'm The Man.

If they don't have an interview they probable do not care about your personal characteristics. Many state schools, especially large ones admit students using a formula based GPA and SAT scores with perhaps taking into account the high school you attended. Elite schools consider other factors, but they have interviews.

(-: They'll kick you out for lying if they catch you, won't they? Ethically, I think it's wrong to lie on the application like you plan to. The system may be wrong, and you should fight to change it, but basically, it sounds like you are justifying a cheat. If you are really trying to do this, why not choose "African American"? Because, seriously, you could make a case for being African . . . they've traced *all* of our DNA back to Africa. And it would make a total farce of the system. (-: And from a cynical point of view, it's true that many Americans can't tell the difference between Hispanic and Asian. But, I think college admissions officers may have special training. Why is it that Asians are discriminated against in this way? Do they really have the better test scores that people claim they do? Or is this an urban myth? Personally, I think America has proved that a person of any color (including white) can grow up and be president of the United States, so it's time to stop using race as an index, and to use merit as the yardstick.

this part of your application is NOT required for you to answer. this is used merely as demographics for the college and so that the college can boast on how diverse there college is. Diverse colleges is what attracts a lot of people. I've never heard of asians losing Some of their SAT scores. Males are usually favored more at some colleges than females because they want to keep the male and female ratio even so that it doesnt seem like the college favors female students because there are more females in a college. your stressed because deadlines are soon and you have cold feet or your just racist. the most racist people are those who put racism in front of any situation, such as the New York Post cartoon where people assumed the monkey was obama and for some reason the black community rised up and called it racist which made no sense at all.
