Do I have to be very strong in mathematics to become an economist or financial analyst?
-
I'm not the best in mathematics but I like analyzing trends and such in different scenarios. Does not being great in mathematics mean I can't become an economist or financial analyst?

Answer:
You have to learn calculus if you want to properly understand many economic concepts. You need it for finance too. Strong maths skills are pretty much essential for both areas. However, no one is born good at maths. You can definitely learn maths and become good at it. Please use this site: http://www.khanacademy.org/ It is way better than getting tutored in maths, at least in my opinion, because the explanations are so good. Also you just watch videos, you dont need to read.

In my opinion, it depends on which part of economics you intend to major in, for example, if you are majoring in natural resource economics, international economics and knowledge economics, you might need some maths background. However, for analytical or financial economics, you'll sure need to have a strong background in calculus. Yes, in this age of computer, you don't have much to worry about but if you know your maths, you sure have an hedge above others in the industry. Borne chance!

Well, my first reaction was to feel that I'd want someone very good in math as my financial analyst. But then I began thinking that maybe with computers and other such stuff, it wouldn't matter so much. I'm not too sure. I guess someone in those fields would have to answer.
