What is causing the decrease in poverty globally?

• I am writting an essay on poverty reduction. I wrote that the economic growth of countries such as china are helping reduce poverty. To support this I need to give three supporting ideas. For that, I wrote that it makes more jobs, allows the government to support its poor citizen with social services such as welfare. I don't know what to write for the third point. I was thinking something along the lines of investments helping reduce poverty. But I don't know how it would. So my question is, how does investments in a country help reduce the poverty of its people?
