Is technology an important factor in international business?

If we look at why the western nations - especially those populated and ruled by the European classes - USA, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain ... they had the immediate benefits of the development of Science between 1500 AD and 1850 AD. It was during these periods that stalwarts such as Newton, Leibniz, Galileo, Michael Faraday, Thomas Joules, John Dalton, Robert Boyle, James Watt ... and a host of other personalities defined and created the BASIC FOUNDATIONS FOR WHAT WE ENJOY TODAY AS MODERN ENGINEERING MARVELS. And, incidentally, the entire developments had occurred in the European nations, turning the nations in these regions TECHNOLOGY RICH. Materials revolutions resulted in the the manufacture of STEEL, ALUMINUM, BRASS, BRONZE, TITANIUM, SUPER ALLOYS, CERAMICS, REINFORCED CONCRETE, PLASTICS, COMPOSITES ...all these are today common places in the material world. NOT ONE OF THESE ORIGINATED IN ANY OF THE SO-CALLED OLD CIVILIZATIONS ...such as CHINA, JAPAN, INDIA...although these countries have now started "mimicking" the western world... never to "catch up" with them. Why is the US the world's super power, today? The answer lies in one word - TECHNOLOGY. They have far superior technology than all other nations, in almost all of the material needs of humans. Now, let us look at a hypothetical situation, where India would have superiority. India has a long coast of over 6, 000 km. Almost the entire coastal area is dotted with Coconut Trees. But what are we doing with these trees? At a time when the world is gasping for Wood/ Timber, if we had proper technology to utilize these Timber resources, what is it that India could produce? The average life of coconut tree could be considered 60 years (productive life). Thus if we had a felling system of 60 year cycle, India would have an estimated annual Coconut Tree resource of TEN million coconut trees (about 750, 000 Tons of materials). By applying the TECHNOLOGY OF COMPOSITES, these 750, 000 tons of coconut tree materials could be converted into more than 1, 250, 000 tons of WOOD SUBSTITUTE COMPOSITES. If these were made in the equivalent size of of an average Ply-Board, INDIA WOULD BE PRODUCING 50 MILLION BOARDS. And this is the equivalent of the WOOD NEEDS OF ABOUT 5 MILLION HOUSEHOLDS!!! That is a situation when JUST ONE OF OUR HUGE RESOURCES IS TECHNOLOGICALLY CONVERTED. And what about those other resources? # We have annual water resource of 3, 500 Billion cubic meters (averaging 10, 000 L of water per day for each of the One Billion people) # We have annual Non-Forest vegetation resources of about 10 Billion tons (which could be converted into ONE BILLION TONS FOOD PRODUCTS; ONE BILLION TONS ALTERNATE ENGINEERING MATERIALS; ONE BILLION TONS ALTERNATE PETROCHEMICALS; 300, 000 MWe POWER) # We have over 150 Billion tons of Mineral resources in the Deccan Plateau alone ..... The list could go on But, alas! We are happy to call ourselves a Developing nation, with our FUNNY leaders and so-called scientists and economists unabashedly going behind the Western world with a begging bowl... ALL FOR WANT OF OUR OWN TECHNOLOGY. LET US HOPE THAT THE PRESENT YOUNGER GENERATION WOULD SOON COME OUT OF THIS SLUMBER TO TAKE INDIA FORWARD, NOT WITH A BEGGING BOWL BUT WITH "CHEST UP", AT LEAST within THE NEXT TWENTY FIVE YEARS. And if it does happen, many of may not be alive to see that wonderful period of our nation's history

Yes, technolgy is very important inall these areas. One needs to be in the forefront of technology in terms of awareness, adopt/ adapt latest technologies by buying/ borrowing/ developing. Technogical advancement keeps one and a nation vibrant and a vibrant nation can absob and make the best use of technological advancement.

Certainly technology is an important factor in International Business,in shaping the government and in media technology.But the law and citizenship are concerned, it was not an important factor for some years before.Now the word technology enters every where even into our kitchen and bath room.We become slaves to that word though it brings a lot of good things.
