Why is technology becoming more affordable?

Are we becoming too reliant on technology?

• There are pros and cons of technological innovation, as it would seem. For the most part, it's a good thing. But I think it's apparent, especially among teenagers and other young folks, that the population is becoming increasingly dependent on technological devices. Kids always on their cellular telephones and music pods...I hardly see anyone read a book theses days! Sometimes old fellows like myself just can't help but wonder, have we gone too far? I don't mean, have we gone too far technologically. It's very beneficial to advance technologically as a nation. Even an old coot like me realizes that. But I think we've gone too far in allowing our children to depend on computers and other devices to do their work and research for them. We're obviously getting lazier, and that, in turn, results in the increase of unemployment and people on medicaid. The Internet is a great source for information, and I agree that it should be used by students. But using the easy route too often can result in bad research habits. People don't read books anymore...go to the library...research without simply using Google. This old fashioned education is what shaped me, and I think it could be damaging to not have some of this, especially in the early years. We shouldn't get kids too accustomed to using technology to solve their problems. It takes away their creativity, the way I see it. They make it too easy these days... soon we may not even have textbooks in schools! I think there will be adverse effects to complete technologicalization of the school system. And it's not just school, it's people's life habits in general. Don't people ever just go outside and wander around anymore?

  We have already become to reliant on technology. Many people can't even do basic math without a calculator. They only look on the internet for information. Anytime a server goes down a company loses money or can go out of business. People are stealing more than ever at a higher rate. People can barely write, read, etc. Technology is increasing the waste of the world and it is also poisonous waste because of the materials used to create a laptop for example the screens or the batteries.
