Political and Cultural status nowadays in Germany?

• Friends, I as an Indian, can talk about (or know) Germany only of 2 things. (a) Hitler and (b) Bosch. Just watched "Hitler Rise of the evil", just cant believe how can so many of Germans followed that "INSANE MAN". What was the mentality of the people that time, poor education, fear? What's the present situation in Germany, do the JEWS still live there, what your elders tell you of that WWII. Were your grandfather's and great grandfather's right in involving with NAZI. Do anyone talk about Hitler or there are any memories. Do they regret? As Hitler mentioned this fight would last thousand years, are there still agitations, cold wars? I personally or for that matter anyone else, after studying material on Internet, can assume "HITLER Just wanted to be the leader of the world and he had nothing like Germans or Germany is great, that sort of things". Probably he used the sentiments of Germans at that time. For that sake, now Australians are attacking Indians Down Under for the same reason (Stealing food and jobs), this problem is faced by each and every country at some point of time, i believe. So, the bottom line is, just fed some light for we Indians or other parts as we still can only imagine sounds of killing and nothing else about Germany. Tell us what is that thing that we should lookout for Germany. (Yes i came to know, its very bad script in that movie, probably will watch DOWNFALL sometime next week, which says has got lot of original material) Please friends, do not copy paste any material or links, kindly write your own........very curious to know about present German thinking. With all respect to you my friends, hope i have not hurt your sentiments. Operating a CANCER is good than just applying BANDAGE to it.

  There are bad people everywhere and Germany is no exception. The vast majority of Germans are very kind people probably to a fault. They have always been that way. The reason they accepted Hitler is because of the way they were treated after WWI. They are very nationalistic and proud people. They were destroyed as a nation and they were forced to pay a huge amount of money to France in particular. Hitler promised to free them from that and give people jobs and make them prosperous. He did that but the darker side wasn't really revealed to the ordinary Germans. They were exposed to positive propaganda. That is pretty much typical of all totalitarian socialists governments, whether NAZI or Marxist. Hitler tried to gain territory for Germans by killing Jews and mostly dislocating Slavs. The point is that the people were acting in their own best interest assuming they could win. They underestimated the Soviet Union and really messed up when they declared war on the US. The people didn't do that. That was Hitler that did it and they were stuck with the consequences. He is also responsible for killing the Jews. It is like riding on the back of a tiger. You hold on tighter because you are afraid to fall off.
