Are greeks middle eastern?

Why do so many modern day Greeks look Middle Eastern and not Caucasian?

    You could say the same for the Italians and Spanish,couldn't you? They are mediterranean people, that is all. Their ancestors, and we are talking about thousands of years ago, came from the near east (the same holds true for many,many Europeans.) Dna testing has proved that there is VERY LITTLE admixture of non-caucasoid dna in native Greeks--only a few percent at most. Btw, Turks are caucasian too! and most North Africans! And a lot of people in Iraq and Iran!

What do you think Caucasians look like? Northern Europeans? That whole area aorund the Mediterranean has had centuries of population mixing. I know Lebanese who look Greek and Greeks who look Turkish and vice versa. There's always been Greeks who are tall and light haired and Greeks who are short and dark!

I believe it's because the Turks ransacked the Byzantine Empire for all it was worth during the medieval ages. There are THREE ways i could prove this; 1) From records saved from destruction during the siege of Constantinople (now Istanbul). 2) By genetically mapping the population of that area, which would eventually lead to me being able to map the progress of the middle-eastern bloodlines in that area. 3) By playing Medieval 2; Total War.

Because the term of Caucasian as it is used in US for racial classification doesn't make any sense in modern Anthropology.
