Who are the Basque people?

Can someone tell me more about the Basque people?

• So are Basque people from France and can also be from Spain? Are they white? What French towns or what area are the Basque people from? I'm asking all of this because I'm trying to find out more about my roots and heritage. My great grandfather was from France and im also wondering if maybe he was of the Basque people. Lately I've taken a major interest in this stuff lol. Thanks

  Basque people are white, they were there even before the Roman invasion . Nobody knows their origin and their language is unique in the world, without any link with any other language . It's a mistery . There is a little part of Basque country in France, only in the very south-west, close to the Atlantic shore and the Spanish border, and further in the Pyrenees mountains . . The main cities are Bayonne and Biarritz . But the most part of Basque country is in Spain . Bilbao, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Vitoria are the main cities of the four Basque provinces . Until the Middle-Age, the Basque country in France was much wider, up to Bordeaux north and further east too . But the French central power finally repelled them to where they are now .
