Over 1 Billion!.. then reason is because there is over 1 million people living in New York!!.. so think about all the other states and all the other Continents!! its very possible that its OVER 1 Billion!!

There are around 2,500 dragonfly species, but if you want to add damselflies into the equation, then there are around 5000 odonates worldwide. I don't think that anyone has estimated the total number of dragonflies found worldwide, but since there are more insects than any other species (an estimated 950,000), you can imagine that the number is fairly high.
