How to find OPPORTUNITIES?

How can i find local performance opportunities?

• I am a high school musician and actor. I play trombone, bass, and I sing. my friend just got a gig playing in a pit band for a musical for $600! my band director told her about a show a couple months ago that she was doing and wanted her help (i wasn't asked but whatever). one of the guys in the band got her info and called her about this new gig. I want to find opportunities like that too because i don't have a job and what's better than getting paid to do something you love. i would be willing to play in the pit or even act. i just want some experience and possibly money. btw, i live near worcester, MA in case anyone knows of anything in that are.   I would start with community acting. Look online for local theaters and look at their performance opportunities. Go and see a show, and if it seems like the kind of environment you would want to be in, then go and audition. Create a resume that talks about any experience you have (I would include what instruments you play; you never know what opportunities might come up) and submit it. Once you have done performances in small community theaters, start looking at professional places that pay their actors. I live in Utah and there is one called Hale Centre Theatre that everyone wants to get in. Once again, look online and try to see a show or two before auditioning. Most importantly, never feel like they thought you were bad, and that's why they didn't put you in. Directors have so, so many people audition that it's hard to choose. Persevere! Good Luck!
