How to start an acting career?

• I'm 13 and i want to start an acting career because i just love acting. i haven't done anything professional yet, mostly just school plays. i just want to know how you get started. Do you need an agent or is that optional for now. And is professional training necessary, such as acting school and/or classes/lessons. What about cover letters and resumes and portfolios. Do they need to be done professionally or can you just type your own. Basically i just want to know what you need to know about meeting an agent, auditions, and what to expect during an interview and things like that. And how to find an agent, or know if its a scam. Also I live in Markham so if you know any good talent agencies near by, please include it in the answer. Thanks x3

  awee! i just love answering these questions :] Im an actress/model =] it's the best thing ever haha Alrightie sweetie acting does take a lot of work, but over time with alot of enthusiasm and heart you'll find yourself getting closer to your dream. So i must say to start off, you Don't need an agent. because it's just a lot of money put into alot of B.S, they call you for 3 months and then get sick of you and forget about you. That has happened to me with basically every agent i've ever had =/ so what you can do is go online and look for places that are holding auditions. Like i live in Florida so I found this place called Full Sail, they do student independent films. they are always looking for actors and talent, so mabey see if you have something like that around you. Ohkay so you want to start off slow and easy, your not just going to get into this business and BAM! get stuff (well needless to say some people get lucky) but for most individuals take anything you can get! like short low buget films that dont pay you. thats where you need to start, because those type of things get people to notice you. and thats how you start to cruise along =] Now yes it is a good idea to take acting classes, it helps soooo soo much. I have became so much more excperienced and am absoluly happy that i did it. I went to John Robert Powers acting school, yeah people say its a money succker but it atuaccly builds you so much as an actor. and also you get free audtions for a year with agents from disney, nick, fox, stuff like that :D so its a great chance Now you asked about resumes and headshots. Its not nessisary to get them professionaly done, but it does help if you got the money honey =] But like i said if thats not the case just type up your own resume and list the stuff that makes you seem like an enthusiastic actress and brings the most important things out in you. Also you neeed a head shot, so if not taken professionaly just get someone to take your picture up against i nice pale colored wall and a nice solid colored shirt on, whith your hair down and not to much makeup kay, head shots can be easy. Now what to expect from an audition.... Yes at times it can become quite frightnig, but you learn over time. They will give you something to read from most likely or just tell you to do something, like act a certin way. They wont bother with you if you show no intrest and enthusiasm, so be the best you can be! show them how wonderful and fun you can be,let your personality shine. In some auditions they might be not so nice, so just take the critisism say, thankyou and just listen to them, i know it might hurt but i've been through that and you must keep your mind open they have been in this business for a long time and to take their advice is such a good rule =] i hope i helped you in many ways :D
