Does anyone have a good monologue I could use?

Help on presenting my monologue in my Drama class?

  • So I'm taking a drama class and one of our assignments is to present any monologue we choose. I'm playing the nurse in Romeo and Juliet. The scene is when Juliet's nurse is announcing to Juliet that Romeo is banish'd. Here's my monologue. Faith, here it is. Romeo is banish'd; and all the world to nothing, That he dares ne'er come back to challenge you; Or, if he do, it needs must be by stealth. Then, since the case so stands as now it doth, I think it best you married with the county. O, he's a lovely gentleman! Romeo's a dishclout to him: an eagle, madam, Hath not so green, so quick, so fair an eye As Paris hath. Beshrew my very heart, I think you are happy in this second match, For it excels your first: or if it did not, Your first is dead; or 'twere as good he were, As living here and you no use of him. I'm not sure how to present it. Should I take a 2 chairs and act as if Juliet is sitting next to me? Also, I'm having a hard time depicting the mood of the monologue. If anyone could help me, so that I know how the mood of the monologue is and how the scene should look.

  • Answer:

Don't try and pretend like your saying it to someone if it's a monologue... By that I mean don't have a invisible person with you on stage... Just think about why she is saying this... What she feels... Word for word.... And you'll be fine
