What song could I sing at my Quinceanera?

Any tips to sing infront of an audience and to sing better?

  • You see, I've been asked to sing at a Quinceanera, normally I'm an okay singer, it's just that when I sing, I can get the pitch right it's just that I run out of air too early & I don't sing 'with feeling' [or as my uncle calls it perfectly pitched talking] also...I have stage fright but I'm working around that. The Quinceanera is in Septemeber so I have plenty of time, the song is Selena - Si una vez and possibly Selena - Dreaming of you.

For nerves, it really helps to seem like you're looking at the audience but kind of un-focus your eyes or pay attention to a spot on the back of the wall, if you are AMAZING at imagining things, you could do the underwear thing, but I've never had any success there, my best thing is just kind of acting like I'm singing to myself. So far as your breathing, do sit ups to help increase your diaphragm muscles, and also do lots and lots of breathing exercises before you perform. Train yourself to retain more air for a longer period of time. Also, posture can sometimes be the problem with breathing problems, make sure you're really really standing up straight, pretend you're on a hanger, be perfectly straight, even on your tiptoes for a few seconds to be sure you're as straight as can be. As far as feeling goes...research the song, figure out what Selena is singing about, and then find something in your life to where you can relate to it. Make it your own. The feelings should come out without much effort once you've done that.

Karaoke is a good treatment for stage fright.

1) Study proper breath support 2) Be completely prepared

You need to start breathing excercises now and do them before you sing. Get a straw, breathe deep from the body allowing the stomach to come forward. Breathe out through the straw for as long as you can. Do this and try to get longer and longer each day. When you do sing you need to forget WHO you are. Become completely invovled in the song and forget about what other people will think about you. Sing in front of your family and friends so you won't be scared when you're on stage. Congratulations and good luck!

just pretend your singing in your room by your self and practice everyday or take singing classas

Practice and practice and practice and practice more. Practice until you are so sick of the song you never want to sing it again. Practice until you can do it in your sleep. Then, when you get on stage, don't pay any attention to the audience and just stay in the song. Let the song lead the way.

practice, practice, practice! don't just sing the words; feel the story you are singing. that will put the feeling into it. as far as breath control goes, sing from your diaphragm, (breatheat the beginning of a thought, not hurry to the end so you can breathe again). for nerves, be confident that you're doing your best, you have more guts than anyone sitting in the audience, and sing loud enough that people in the back of the room can hear you, but soft enough to make them listen. (dynamics) too.

Breathing breathing breathing. If you have a few dollars get to a singing teacher and ask her to teach you to sing from your diaphram. This will not only give you better sustain and pitch control, but the technique will give you better oxygenation when singing, and help relax your body, which is what your throat muscles need, as they will constrict is you get too nervy. If possible, get used to practicing in a venue with you on stage and the stage lights on, so that you get used to it and realise that you may not be able to see much of the audience anyway. Finally, remember that singing a song is like telling a story. It is like trying to convice someone of something. Again a few lessons from a singing teacher will help, even two or three will be money well spent. It is not expensive.

ok first when you run out of breath before you do a long note take a deep breath but like under you breath slowly ok, and before you have to go on stage try to clear your throat and try sing low and high notes before you go on stage and keep on practicing the song once a day or twice if you have to and try to sound like the singer and if she has a low voice, then don't sing in a high voice and if she sings in a high voice then don't sing in a low voice so work out your vocal courds and try to clear out your throat of any mucus (even though it sounds gross), you have to do it so practice, practice, and practice, until you get perfect. you should try some dance moves, also. the stage fright thing you should tell you faily to sit where you could see them or someone you know that your comfterble with. or just think of something wonderful that happend in you life and just imangine like it was a compition, and everyone is cheering you on but their like watching you racing the fastest person but at the end of the song its like you won the race. so just try it with your friend and family make a stage and imagine what i just said and if its works your very welcome. Ok, then you try to figure out what Selena is singing and what she really means in her heart and search for something that relats to something in you life. ok
