Should i stop my ballet lesson?
-
I am a grade 12 student in international school and i'll be taking A-level exams next year. So, i will be very very busy. Moreover i have piano and voice lesson. My first voice lesson was when i was in grade 5 and then i stopped in grade 6. When i was in grade 10, i asked my parents to let me start again my voice lesson because i transferred to a new music school. I transferred because my piano teacher encouraged me to do so. So, when i was in grade 11, a music teacher at my school approached me to study at a conservatory after he listened to me singing in a school competition. I actually wanted to become an opera singer and when he said he wanted to help me cover up my music knowledge, i was so happy. Right now in ballet, i am in Advance 2 level. But, since 2 years ago, i didn't felt happy again.I am so stressed because everyone in my ballet class are thin and always dance beautifully. When i am waiting for my turn to dance, i always look at the mirrors and felt very, very fat. I always look down at myself. I don't feel confident dancing in front of my friends because of my fat body. It's been 1 month i don't do ballet because i got typhoid and within 1 month, i feel relaxed and a bit happy. To be honest, when i was a little girl i wanted to become a professional ballet dancer. But, that change because now, i want to become an international opera singer. So, should i continue my ballet lesson or no ? I'm waiting for your answers, thank you. PS: I am an Indonesian, 158 cm and 56 kg. I think i am very, very fat for a ballet student.

Answer:
I know how you feel because i take dance class [I have to at college!] and i don't always feel like the most attractive person! I am quite short and a bit chubby in areas and I have quite big boobs too...which don't always go where i want them to! The thing is you have to do what makes you happy! If you want to be a ballet dancer then go for it! im sure your friends don't even think about your weight and i am sure that you are probably thinner than you think anyway. But weight doesn't matter...anyway I know some larger woman who i would love to be able to sing/act/ or dance like and I'm sure no one cares what they look like at all! If its getting you down then maybe consider dropping out because there is no point in doing something you aren't enjoying.... but if you enjoy it [apart from the weight] Then carry on! it good exercise anyway. If you have doubts about it...maybe just keep going for a while until you know for sure what you want... but it seems like there is lots of other things which interest you and which you are good at so you should concentrate on those! Good Luck.
