How do I become a better musician and singer faster?

• I am fourteen and my voice is medium. It is not low (a tad higher than a boy gone through puberty) and it's not high. Just in the middle, haha. I have always wanted to be a singer but it seems like I was never pushed to follow my dreams. So now that I have learned to help and believe in myself so late, I am ready to sing and write. I take piano lessons and have been for a few months because that is the instrument that I want to play along with my voice. I am a very talented writer and an okay singer from what I have heard, but I need touch up's. I want to conquer my fear of crowds because of my panic attacks, and I want to be able to sing with beauty. I wish to write emotional lyrics that inspire a lot. But it seems like I give up to easily. So is there any advice on: 1. conquering my fear of crowds? 2. singing better? 3. get better quicker?! Thank you! :)

  conquering you fear of crowds: I think first you have to address the very specific problem. Maybe you're not afraid of the crowd so much as you are afraid of messing up in front of them. By being able to address the fear you can then easily figure out what it is you need to do in order to fix that. (after that it would just be a matter of actually doing it lol). Honestly, at the end of the day, the best cure for that is to actually put yourself in a performance situation as much as possible. You'll realize that by doing that your confidence, comfort, and mindset will slowly start to change and you'll start to feel much more relaxed, confident, and focused every time you do it. Singing better: I'm not a singer but I also plan on improving my vocal ability as well (it probably just isn't as high of a priority as it might be for you which is probably why I haven't done much about it haha). A couple of things I would suggest is to definitely look into some private lessons. I would suggest probably looking for a well respected/experienced Jazz vocalist in your area (emphasis on well respected/experienced) that knows a lot about vocal technique. They can help you improve your singing from a technical perspective, as well as give you insight on some of the things they do when they come across certain problems or issues as a performer. Also, it's always great when you can also catch your own instructor at a show and watch them perform. That's always very inspiring and very helpful. Getting better quicker: well I'm not sure what you're referring to in terms of getting better (be it your voice, piano playing, writing, etc...) but one thing is for sure, I've learned that at the end of the day, the best way to get better at something...is by doing it! so I encourage you to practice a lot(voice and piano) do as much writing as possible, and last but not least, Listen to music a lot! As a musician sometimes everything we need to know, is in the music itself.
