What's the best metal guitar?

What's the best brand of "metal" guitar?

  • I realize there are variations within the same brand name too. I also know there are people who love Gibsons and Fenders for metal, but those guitars are also used for many other types of music. Guitars such as Ibanez, ESP, Jackson, and BC Rich are obviously designed for more heavy music, like hard rock or metal. Personally, I don't think you can beat a good Jackson with EMG 81/85 pickups.

  • Answer:

I have 2 Jacksons, both with Seymour Duncans.1 ESP with EMG's.1 Ibanez 7 string with seymour duncans,1 Fender fat strat with seymour duncans,1 Kramer Beretta heavily modified with seymour duncan alcino's,and 1 gibson SG with gibson p/u's. My favorite guitar is the jackson soloist with the 3 p/u configuration, then the jackson professional with the 3 p/u config.I like the jacksons better because they have better necks and sustain than anything else I own.The ESP sounds amazing but its neck isn't as "liquid" as the jacksons.the fender and the gibson, both sound and feel like they were put together in a hurry, and they both are USA built and top end, disappointing. the Kramer is bichin, but it is so heavy cause of this custom finish, also I wish I could get a neck more like a jacksons and the Ibanez 7 string just sucks.Ibanez used to be good.In my opinon when they 1st put out those roadstar models(rgx)I had 2 but now I can't find one worth keeping around,no sustain or rich tone.

I've been in a few metal bands (singer) and the guitar players ALWAYS used Ibanez. Of course they used 7 string guitars... and Ibanez kinda pioneered the 7 string guitar. As for durability... the Ibanez held up very well while on tour and rarely went out of tune. In my personal experiance Ibanez guitars have more of a bassy crunch tone than most other guitars. I personaly play acoustic guitars.. And if the question was: What is the best sounding acoustic guitar? I would have writte five paragraphs on the SEAGULL. Taylors, Martins, and Gibsons are all overpriced trash, Seagulls OWN.

It's easy to be disappointed too. I bought a Di Marzio "Humbucker from Hell" and it was really wimpy. Wish I'd bought another Gibson. As for guitars in general it's more a case of which effects pedal they work best with to get a good metal sound.

i have a jackson, with EMG 81/85s, and id does sound awesome, but most of it is down to whatever you think looks nice, to be honest, with the amount of gain and distortion you will play with, any guitar with emg pickups in it will sound awesome.
