How do i write sheet music for lyrics?

• Do you have to write sheet music for lyrics? if you do.. how? I want to write a song.. i know how to write sheet music for guitar.. i've already wrote the lyrics, and guitar sheet music.. should i write sheet music for the lyrics too? thanks so much i really appreciate it :D

  Well, the lyrics would be the melody. If you want anybody else to be able to play your song, or keep your song so you'll remember it in years to come, you'll most definitely have to notate the melody on some manuscript. It's really simple to write actually. The hard part is figuring out the notes and rhythms you are actually singing. Use a guitar or piano to work out the notes. It'll be slow going, but it's really the only way to do it. Once you know WHAT you're singing, you can begin to write it down. It is just like guitar music (notes the same and everything), but just single notes, not chords. Notate the melody in notes and then write the lyrics underneath. Remember, one note per syllable.
