How long does it take to learn a song on acoustic guitar?

  • Ive just began playing acoustic guitar, how long will it be before i can play a basic song. My friend whos been playing for 6 years told me it would be around 2 years! is this true?

    No, it shouldn't take you two years. Most popular songs today only use about four chords, so you can get those down fairly quickly. Still, you have to learn to play the chords first. If you're trying to play some classical guitar pieces, it might take even longer than two years. It really depends on what you want to play. Most of the popular music that's out there today is simple enough that you can pick it up quickly.

Hmmm it would appear that your friend has a vast knowledge of playing guitar. I would agree with him but it dpends on the amount of time that you put into learning and practicing. Best of luck

Not two years. You could learn a simple song with only about 6 chords (Time Of Your Life - Green Day) in a matter of hours, with the right tab website and strumming pattern :)
