If I'm learning to sing in my 30s will I ever develop vibrato?
-
I'm having singing lessons (classical) and have noticed changes in my voice ('cleaner' and stronger and produced differently) but no vibrato. Am I told old to develop in this way?

Answer:
You are not too old. Here's how it happens. 1. Learn proper vocal technique. 2. Relax 3. Relax 4. Relax 5. See, 4, and repeat. If you feel like you are progressing, keep at it. The vibrato will eventually appear. I say relax because most new singers are trying so hard to do all the right things, they are too tense to let the vibrato appear. When it does sneak out, they think they are "wobbling" and they "correct" things by removing the vibrato. The first few times it will not seem like things are working properly - just relax. You might not like it at first because you aren't supporting quite correctly or you're not ready to let it just happen. It's a little like sex. ;) (That's that I tell my older students)

Once you keep practicing nothing will be impossible to accomplish!!!!!!!!!

No, because natural vibrato comes with the maturing of your voice. Although you have matured in age, it doesn't effect your singing much. So just keep singing! Now, if you want a vibrato that you make with your own voice [which isn't advised with choral teachers (or at least my choral teacher)] you can try doing scales and little trills on a piano and follow along with your voice. Good luck!

You already have it. You just don't have the technique to release it yet. Kat doesn't know what she's talking about. I am a talented opera singer and like all opera singers, I have vibrato.

It is always there, you just haven't heard it yet. Once you find it, it can be hard to control. Don't let it take over your singing voice. Good to have, but sometimes a pain.

No you're not, you just have to mess around with your voice and you will find it. Vibrato is kind of like going back and forth and back forth but it sounds natural. Oh yeah, some people all the sing is with vibratos it sounds really bad and is really noticable in choir. so don't do that.

I am sorry but i believe that vibrato is actually a sign of bad breathing technique. And what do you want vibrato for anyway?
