What makes a vintage guitar vintage?

Guitar Players...what makes a signature sound?

  • So I have always wondered if Stevie Ray, Jimi, Clapton and Santana all played the same song, how is it that you know you could tell who each was? They all have their own sound...but what exactly makes it sound like them? Thanks!

  • Answer:

Hi Miss The sound is one thing. It is the way they phrase and create their lead part. Ex, Santana always tends to use the same notes to sustain or cry. Basically, their main riff (solo parts) either start the same or , are used somewhere in their solos which makes them easily identified. Hendrix had these weird scales and guitar tuning that made it obbvious especially, when he used the whammy bar.

well the thing that set all of them apart was innovation of all three of them Jimi was basically psycadelic as hell and he made amizing use of the effects and was the most innovative of the three. clapton was really the first to intergrate the blues into rock. Santana was the first to fuse Jazz and Latin rock. They all had their own respective styles thats was set them apart.
