I'm Not Flexible! How Can I Become Flexible Like A Contortionist?

I found out about contortion, when I was about thirteen... I find it fascinating. I am drawn into their performances... You could say that I have an obsession with it. I did try some moves... and found that I couldn't do any of them. I'm not flexible... so I gave up on my dream of becoming a contortionist (specifically an aerial contortionist; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zty1Lql09P0). If you aren't born flexible... is the only other way to become as flexible as a contortionist... to have trained at a very young age? Now, I'm nineteen... and... I've been bothered by the thought of not being able to do what I most want to. Yeah, yeah... a lot of people don't get to do what they want... but... if there's a chance I can become flexible... then I won't give up. Can a person, at age nineteen, who is not flexible... become flexible? If so... how and how long would it take? (While I don't think I am flexible, flexible... my left leg seems to be able to go up higher than my right... and I can do a couple things that some of my friends can't.) I love performing... and masquerading. Do exercise everyday. Not just Yogs and stretches. Lifting weights, jogging and cycling are important to build muscle which will help with flexibility. Flexibility increases over time. doing flexibilty stretches twice a day will help you, but remember it won't overnight. It may take months for a significant change in your muscles. And 19 isn't too old. But you will have to work hard to achieve your drea,s. Good luck

if yuu do stretches evryday yuu'll become more and more flexible over time... i use 2 do tht n i found my self going into second splits.... also remember if the stretch is only hurting a little bit push yuurself becoz beuty is pain :P

Yeah all you have to do is stretch everyday. So if you'd been stretching since you were 13 to now you would have been well on your way to becoming a contortionist. Do your stretches at least half an hour every morning and every night hold each stretch for a minute. If you have no idea what i'm on about i mean stretches as in straddles (sitting with your legs stretched either side of you as far as you can go.) http://www.wikihow.com/Become-Flexible Good luck
