Start trying to find ways to break your fear, like joing plays at school or talent shows. Dont depend on anyone just do it yourself, if you friends dont want to do it dont let that stop you. If you want to be a singer go for it. Your friends will regret it when your famous and preforming all over the world.. GOOD LUCK

some of the great musicians had stage fright, you just have to get past it. jim morrison from the doors used to face the drum set when he sang live. i'm a singer in a band and the best thing to remember is everyone in the crowd - or mostly everyone in the crowd, is there to see you. they are there to listen to music. so give them music. they didn't come to watch you stand around up there and get nervous and walk away, right? eventually over time you'll get over it. good luck!

To build up your courage, you'll gradually have to perform in front of more and more people. Start with a small audience and work your way up to bigger and bigger audiences. Stat scoping out places to do karaoke at like bars, restaurants, coffee houses, bowling places, there's a lot of places out there! The more you put yourself out there, the more likely you will become successful as a singer. Here's some encouragement: You most likely know who Lady Gaga is by now. Well her real name is Stefani Germanotta, and I'm family friends with her and her family. I met them in South Carolina on vacation (our families go back to the same spot at the same time every year) and now she's (obviously) famous. She started by signing at bars and clubs and doing karaoke. Just from putting herself out there, she became famous. practice, practice, practice! if you're good at singing, start at the bottom and work your way up! sing in the car, sing in the shower, that's step one! sing for your friends, sing walking down the street. gradually get more comfortable with it until you can sing at karaoke! there you can get in front of people and sing and you can get feedback too. when you think that you're good enough, record some stuff and put it online and maybe even get into a local band that needs a singer. check out bandmix or craigslist for musicians in your area, that should be a good start.
