What makes a GUITAR teacher GOOD?

• Hey, Okay, so it turns out that when I decided to start playing guitar (10 months ago) I'd found a teacher that a friend -who was also a beginner and was going to start lessons with me- had recommended. Long story short: I ended up abandoning classes with the teacher since I felt that he was just ripping me off and teaching me nothing: All he'd taught me in three months was to play "Vertigo" by U2. I thought to myself, when's he going to teach me chords? How to HOLD the guitar? (I'd never held a guitar before in my life when I'd started, okay maybe once or twice...) When has he asked me what I'm interested in learning and playing? Never. All we did was make me practice that song over and over again, while he sent text messages to his friends and chatted with the neighbours. I spoke to him several times telling him that I was interested in learning techniques and chords and how a guitar actually works, but he never even considered it. Anyway, I completely regret having spent my money on that teacher. I learn nothing from him. I wouldn't want this to happen again, that's why I would like somebody to guide me in order to find a really GOOD teacher whom I can actually learn something from.   i loveee my guitar teacher ... she teaches me songs using power cords but she also teachers me songs with regular notes .... find someone like that id suggest looking where u get ur guitar from.. music places often have teachers who want students
