Is it worth my time to pursue acting?
-
I have always thought acting would a lot of fun. I grew up watching disney channel and would have loved to be able to be on one of the shows I watched. Being an actor would be so much fun and not just for being rich and famous I know there is a highly unlikely chance that it would ever happen, but one can aspire to make it big because then you get better roles and meet so many people who enjoy it too. I want to be in film or on tv. I have never had any experience acting before. I was never in any high school plays or have gone to any auditions or taken any classes. I feel like I want this, but I don't have the money and my parents would most likely not approve. they will be happy with whatever i do its just they want me to have a good life with a good job. I am 20 years old and in nursing school which i have no desire to do. I also live in michigan where all theses films are being made now if that helps. I think it would be a rewarding career i just dont know if i would ever be able to make it big enough that i would be able to support myself. I look at all these young actors and cant help but think that most of them are probly their because they are the 1 in 10,000 aspiring that got a break or they have connections. Im not a hermit or anything I have a lot of friends i am just kind of shy when giving presentations and stuff which probly doesnt help. Please help I dont know what to do or where to start.

Answer:
I'm a young actor attending college for theatre. My advice would be to take some acting classes or audition for a play or something at a local theatre. Acting is a SUPER competitive profession. It also involves a lot of harsh criticism. I'm going to attempt to go out to Cali to try and make an acting career in film and television but it's not very likely I will actually succeed, but the way I look at it, it's better to try and not succeed and never try and wonder for the rest of your life if you could have made it. Just start out by auditioning for a few shows at your local community theatre and see how you like it. The biggest part about an acting career is auditions. Auditions determine whether you get a role or an agent or whatever. Auditioning can definitely be nerve racking and you have to get used to it if you want to pursue acting as a career.
