Is it so hard to enter Berklee College of Music?

What position should I sight read music on the guitar for Berklee College Of Music audition?

  • I plan on auditioning for Berklee College Of Music, and I can only sight right in open position, does anyone have any suggestions on which position would be best to read in? Which position(s) should I learn to read in?

  • Answer:

You will need to be able to read in the position that is best suited to the piece of music you are playing. Scan the piece for the lowest and highest FRETTED notes. I say fretted because you will often see an open string played in a piece that is above the first position. By finding these notes you will be able to determine the optimal position(S) that a piece is played in. Many pieces use more than one position.
