How can I sort strings in multiple languages?

Is it bad if the strings on my violin turn sort-of copper-ish?

  • The part where I bow regularly (between the end of the fingerboard and the bridge) has turned copper-colored for my G, D, and A strings. Is it just because I use those strings a lot or is it because bad maintenance with rosin, etc...? And should I replace them?

  • Answer:

I don't know about it being bad necessarily, but it probably isn't good... just be sure to clean the rosin off your instrument after you play it. Also, if you've had your strings long enough for them to show wear, then it's probably time to replace them.

Yeah it probably is. It has never happened to me before. If your strings are a year to two years old, I'd replace them. I highly recommend DOMINANTs. Great buy for your money. What kind of rosin are you using? Make sure that it is violin rosin. Also make sure the rosin isn't too old. About every year you have to replace the rosin because it dries out and doesn't have the same effect as it did when you first bought it. And make sure after every practice that you wipe the rosin off your strings. Oh, one more thing, don't put too much rosin on your bow. If your violin looks like a frosted cake after you practice, you're definantly using too much rosin.
