How do I become a successful music producer?

• I'm an independent music producer. How do I create a successful career for myself in the music industry? What steps should I take? I'm unsigned. Must I get a manager or publisher etc?

  Well for starters.... 1. Get good music connections for one. Get to know various Studio onwers & other Artists, Bands & Producers too as well. People know other people so that will help you too in the big picture of things. Knowing the right people at the right time can help launch your career real fast too. But I started producing my own songs ( singing, composing lyrics playing all guitars, bass & drums on my songs) around 2004 so I've been producing my own Solo Cds now for about 4 years. Its been one of the most difficult projects I've done muisically, but it is the most rewarding. Sure, I'm stuggling hard, but I'm also making major progress too. 3. If you are unsigned and want to sell your music. Tunecore is the best way to go without a Record Label. You get to keep all your copyrights to your music well.
