How to get over stage fright?

  • i used to not have stage fright but as soon as i got into high school it became BAD. recently i had competition and when i was singing my voice rose to the top of my vocal range and i began to shake. i could not stop shaking. i must have looked ridiculous. i want to show the world what i can do! but first i have to get over my stage fright. i have worked my way up to performing in front of a group of close friends. how do i get over this so i can try out for the talent show???

    Well my stage fright used to be HORRIBLE in middle school. My mom showed me some techniques that should hopefully work for you. 1. Find a close friend your comfortable with. 2. Sing in front of her with your eyes closed. 3. Get 2 more friends. (Don't have to be CLOSE with, but trustable people.) 4. Sing in front of the 3 of them with your eyes STILL closed. 5. Continue the process until you have reached at least singing in front of 15 people with your eyes closed. 6. Finally, when you need to sing in front of a crowd, picture it as your small group of 15 friends, and then at the end open your eyes. (:

For me the best thing is confidence, as long as you believe you are going to do great others will too. Just don't get cocky haha. Also, it is normal to get stage fright so the more practice you have the better you will get at it. Good luck!

First thing is: You shouldn't care about what people think of you. ;) Let go of the bad memory. Was the entire night bad? If not, take what was good and dwell on that instead of the bad. That helps me. ;)

Look past the people and look at the wall. It looks like your looking out into the audiance. But your not. Just forget about the people. Pretend like your singing in your room by yourself.

Take a deep breath, look beyond the audience and enjoy just being you and share your talent!! Good luck!!
