What is the best source for Finding acting auditions?

I would like to attend Film/TV auditions. Can I do this independently by websearching or must I've an agent?

My sister did acting for a while, and she was recorded in a book of names of actors/actresses up for Film/TV auditions, and she had an agent notify her of any auditions etc. In order to participate in Film/TV auditions, must I do the same and have an agent that gets about 20% of my wages, or can I do it entirely independently by finding online-advertised auditions? Thanks.

i've tried looking into this myself... but all i could find were agents! maybe there are online-advertised auditions, but i haven't found them yet... i would say the best bet is to get a job (if u don't have 1) get acting lessons from your sister or a school that teaches acting... then get an agent... that's what i would do...
