Need help fixing flute?

Help! I need to clean out my nasty flute head and don't know how to...?

  • After thanksgiving I practiced my flute after eating garlic potatoes... Now it smells like nasty garlic and theres a few little tiny garlic bits in the flute head (Or what ever you call the the part that you blow into) Please tell me the best way to clean my flute head and get rid of the smell! It's so bad tthat when ever I take a deep breath my nose hurts a bit. HELP!!!

  • Answer:

Please stop messing around with food and your instrument, and bring tthe flute to the professional instrument repairer to be checked and professionally cleaned. I hope you have learned your lesson and remember to clean your mouth each time you are about to play the flute.

Spray it and a cloth with disenfectant (You can purchase it at a music store, and your band program at school should have some too) And then put the cloth onto the long cleaning stick that should be with your flute, and clean 'er out good, constantly spraying the disinfectant onto the cloth and flipping it over/changing it. Just a friendly reminder that your should always at the very least swish some water around in your mouth after eating if you plan on playing!

Gross. I think you should probbly just wash it in warm water then clean with a cloth if its really bad.
