How do i get a crisp clean singing voice?

How do I get my singing voice back?

  • When I was in grade school, I sang a lot in the choir. My singing instructor said I had a beautiful voice, as did parents and classmates. I sang solos at school concerts, and I admit, I was pretty good. Then a year or two later, I stopped singing after 9/11 and when my grandparents died. I haven't really sung in six years (i'm in high school now), and I'm really intrested in singing again, but I lost my voice! Is there a way to get it back?

Even though guys' voices change more noticeably during puberty, girls' voices go through a change too. In time, you will learn how to control your "new voice" better than you did your old one. Also, use the stress and emotions you feel and experience in your singing. It will really set you apart from the boring "technical" singer with no feeling. However, you need to have good technique... It sounds like you just need to get back into it. You need to learn some better techniques that you most likely would not have learned in grade school. You need to learn about proper breathing and support, placement of the voice, diction, and training your ear. Just like you would for any instrument, you need to practice, practice, practice. Always warm-up first and use proper technique. You should also learn about things that are bad for your voice and not do them such as screaming, smoking, excessive yelling, etc. You should also learn about a singer's diet. There are many foods that are bad for your voice (singing voice). Drink a lot of water, lemonade, and tea (with lemon and honey). In colder months, wear a scarf and keep your throat warm. Find a good teacher and take lessons. Also, join the high school chior. If you go to church, join that chior too. Sing where ever you can. Singing along with the radio is fine, but becareful becuase if you follow some of today's singers' styling, you could actually damage your voice (in the long term). You should sing along with the radio using "your voice"; don't try to sound just like them. You want to be a singer, not an impressionist/entertainer. In time, probably a short period, you will be a good singer again. Good luck!

I struggled with singing for years and then discovered the secret. It's really two secrets that work for me: confidence and volume. Oddly, the louder I sing, the easier it is to control my voice. And it's hard to sing loudly without confidence so it took a while to break down the barrier of being scared. Go into your room at home and try belting a couple of songs out. Like everything else in life, you will get better with practice so keep working on it. Practice vibrato, which is so well done by Whitney Houston and many others. Work on high and low notes, always pushing from the diaphragm and trying to get a loud, controlled volume. Keep at it... and good luck!

Practice makes perfect. Your singing voice has just gotten dormant due to emotional stress and the apathy you felt before. If you start singing gradually and practicing once again, you will eventually get your singing voice back and maybe in a better way then before. All great singers have probably have something similar ( stress ) happen to them some or the other time in their life. When you sing more and practice more then you will gain the confidence and the strength to sing better and nice. Good Luck.

Your voice has simply matured. You haven't lost it. But, you may need a little training to gain the ability to get everything out of your voice that you can. Get some voice lessons from a recommended well qualified instructor. That will help. Also, one thing I know (being a singer myself) is that there is no "half-way". If anything is holding you back like being self conscious, you will not get everything out of your voice. You HAVE to totally "let go" and sing out with all your heart. Don't be concerned with the audience. They are there because they love you. Sing out and let go! Good luck!

You never really lose something like that unless through injury or illness. Maybe what you lost was your confidence...which is perfectly understandable when shocks hit a person like you experienced. May I suggest you just start to sing again! I know that is awefully simplistic..but just open your mouth and let the notes come back out! Sometimes, the answer is just that simple and just that frightening!

I heard raw eggs help to get voice back. When once I lost my voice (completely) my mom did a drink for me (hot milk, raw eggs and honey, all mixed) And you need practice, that is for sure!!!

Sing about what you feel. You can still sing! You may not have the same range, and you may not have the same techniques remembered, but you still have your voicebox, lungs, and a throat, don't you? Soul music is fun to sing, especially when you're getting into a choir. Carol King is a great one to start with, especially if you are white. Singing will make you happy, and when you find out you can FINALLY hit that high C, you will be so glad.
