How do you get a dancing job in Ibiza?

Can anyone help me get a job in acting/dancing/singing?

  • I have a passion for acting.. and i would LOVE to get a job in something related to it! To be very specific, i would like to do maybe commercials, or just little parts in those breaks in between shows on family channel. It doesn't have to be specifically on that channel, or anything. I am willing to do advertisements too. I also have a singing and dancing talent. I did a school musical in 2009: Hairspray; played/sang/danced the role of Tracy (i auditioned of course). And during graduation I won the Drama award out of the whole school. I also took vocals in 2010, and recorded in a studio the song Impossible by Shontelle. (I have the video of the musical, certificate for the award, and file of the song for proof in needed). A little info on me: I am 15, turning 16 in October 2011. (Grade 10) I am 5"7, black hair, dark brown eyes. I live in Scarborough; Toronto. Ontario. My background is Bengali, from Bangladesh. (So brown basically). I haven't seen many (or ANY in my case) brown people on Family, or other channels or in ads. And i want to change that :) Please help me achieve my goal <3 PLEASE AND THANK YOU :D

The only way you're going to get an acting job is if you're an actor - and that means having gone to a good drama school and then qualified and got a lot of experience. Working in commercials and in bit-parts is how newly qualified actors work their way up the ladder, so even roles like that are fiercely competed for and almost always go to fully-trained actors. Thousands of girls like you want the same thing - wanting it isn't going to make any difference. If you are serious about becoming an actor you have to be realistic - no-one is going to employ an untrained kid when they have hundreds of experienced professionals lining up for every job going. Like most worthwhile ambitions, acting takes effort, determination and a lot of very hard work.

Start out local and small time. Work very hard and keep improving your skills. A long long time ago, at the store I was working at, Buck Owens(The country singer) played all afternoon at the grand opening. For $200. Then, after working hard, he became famous.

Scarborough has at least one amateur theatre group. Contact them and see if you can get on starting with backstage or bit roles. You could also contact YTV (Corus Entertainment) which I think is in the GTA and see if they are auditioning. Also, Contact Toronto's Young Peoples Theatre and see if they need any fresh faces. Stay in school drama and get your face and talents out there. You might even consider for next summer getting a Busker licence and working the Harbourfront and Yonge St. doing soliloquies from Shakespeare and other Elizabethan theatre. It would get you noticed because I don't think anyone else is even trying it. Good luck on your career and take as many English and Drama courses as you can get.
