Guitar HELP!!! WIRING?

Guitar Problem! NO SIGNAL! When cable touches outside of input, it works. Plugged all the way in, nothing HELP

• Have been trying to 'touch up' my guitar's problems. After looking up several answers for wiring problems, checking fender stratocaster wiring diagrams, all seems well with my guitar. For some reason, when the cable (any cable, with any of my amps) touches the outside of my input of my guitar it buzzes. But when I plug the cable into the guitar, there is absolutely no sound! Originally, my guitar was fine. The pickups were rusted though, so I decided to clean them with comment and sponge/material. It cleaned it off, but ever since I took the pickups out of the pickguard- then placed everything back together, the volume made a cracking noise or cut the sound very short. Now, after checking out the wiring, I've sodered the wires that seemed loose and tightened or checked things out a bit, NOW- there is no sound at all!   I would say you plugged your gaiter in when it was still wet.The pickups my be burned out.You nead to fined a store in your town thet sells gaiter parts.Next time you clean it Waite a day or two before using it.
