How do I get work experience in the media industry?

Is it possible to get work experience at reading festival 2010?

  • I'm hoping to get work experience, as i am hoping to work in the music industry, and working in that industry is all about creating contacts, as I'm sure you know. For this reason, i was hoping to gain work experience at reading festival in 2010 as a runner. I would really be willing to do any kind of job, as an assistant, runner etc etc, for no payment, just to be able to network with some of the people attending the festival. I live about 10 minutes drive from where the festival is held, so it would be no problem to get there on each of the days.Is this at all possible? If so, how?Has anyone done this kind of work?Any help you can give me would really be appreciated.

  • Answer:

Contact the organiers - in my experience they'll need a load of people who'll probably be supplied by an agency and will be doing security and admin work etc. However if you are looking to help the organiers as part of a work experience programme then you are better off applying via your school/college as it'll look more official. Google - organiers - Reading Festival and work from there, but another thing to bear in mind is that just because the festival is taking place in Reading doesn't mean that the organisers will be based there, they'll only move onto the site in build up. Nevertheless, good luck.
