How to play static dominant and functional dominant chords?

Guitar pros, what are the chords of Little Lies? How do you play them?

  • There's a song called "Little Lies" by Dave Barnes, and I have looked up the chords on ultimate-guitar however, I'm really curious to what the actual chords are and how to play them. I will have a video link below and if anybody can give me the actual chords/ how to play those chords on the guitar (tabs) will be of so much help to me. Thanks! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjc_i9r9R5s

  • Answer:

Your link has it all there in plain sight. He's playing the barre chord shapes D-A-Bm-G in a repeating pattern. The thing that may throw you off is that his guitar is tuned a half step low. That means if you want to play along with the video, you'll need to play a half step low. That would make your chords Db-Ab-Bbm-Gb The fingering of the chords is like this: Db = 4-4-6-6-6-4 (A shape barred on the 4th fret) Ab = 4-6-6-5-4-4 (E shape barred on the 4th fret) Bbm= 6-8-8-6-6-6 (Em shape barred on the 6th fret) Gb = 2-4-4-3-2-2 (E shape barred on the 2nd fret) There's a part in the middle (just before the stop) where he just plays Db-Ab-Db-Gb-Ab (stop) then back into the original pattern.
