Violin dexterity loss?
-
Here I am again posting violin questions. :) I am experiencing a loss of dexterity in both hands. They feel sort of heavy and dead and sluggish, and it's noticable even if I'm not playing. It doesn't dissapear after a day or a week, and I am still practicing my normal amount (an hour to two). I am finding it hard to type this. The only thing I do new is I've started lifting weights like twice a week and doing yoga once a week, and some say violinists shouldn't do that. What can cause this rapid and large of a reduction in dexterity? Thanks.

Answer:
Personally I've never heard of a string player being harmed by either weight lifting or yoga, and I know plenty of professional players who do both. However, it does sound like you need to see a doctor.
