How To Get a More Solid Sound Out Of An Alto Sax?
-
im a pretty good player but every time i sustain a note around the Bb or A area it gets somewhat of a wobble. it sounds like 2 instruments playing that aren't exactly in tune. the wobble is little but it is very annoying! i have tried firming up, putting more air in the horn, even getting a new mouthpiece! nothing seems to work! pz help!

Answer:
Is it a high A or Bb? Well anyway, just try doing your scales, and if you have trouble, try this. Go one note or half-note lower than the note. See how long you can hold this note until it starts wavering. Then just try to hold the next higher note a little bit shorter. Also just try trilling note with the next lower note. This worked for me, so hopefully it will work for you. Best of luck!
