How To Play Piano?

Can I play piano notes on the keyboard? How much will an acoustic piano cost me?

  • I really cant afford a piano rightnow and i plan 2 purchase an acoustic one after i get the hang of playing notes, butcan i practise all my piano leson notes on the keyboard. If so should i buy a keyboard for this and which type and what brand?I havent started piano lessons yet but are keyboard and piano lessons the same thing? Or do they teach different notes. Or is there any note on the piano that cant be played on a keyboard. All answers will be appreciated plz reply.

  • Answer:

A keyboard is simply an electric piano. Notes on the keyboard are exactly the same as those on an acoustic piano. The thing to watch out for when buying a keyboard is to remember that a full size acoustic piano has 88 keys, but some electric keyboards have fewer (some of the very highest and very lowest notes may not be there). Also be sure to buy an instrument that has full-size keys the same as a piano; some less expensive keyboards have smaller "mini" keys, and if you get used to playing one of those you'll have a hard time switching to a full size piano. Thirdly, try to get a keyboard with "weighted" keys that feel like a piano; again it will make it easier, switching to an acoustic piano later. Hope this helps,

it wouldn't be too hard to find a cheap real piano, especially an upright...those aren't all that expensive if you buy them used. I don't know what your price range is but I wouldn't recommend a keyboard if you're trying to learn to play piano...I have one, and I HATE playing it because compared to my baby grand its like a toy. And it's a nice keyboard too...but you can't focus on dynamics and musical expression and stuff like that on a keyboard. Plus you can only have one pedal on a keyboard and it's not as effective as the three different pedals on a real piano. I mean, I guess you could learn the notes on a keyboard, but you'd have to switch to a piano fast because it doesn't take long to improve and learn more complex songs.

Keyboard practice will give you dextriority but a real keyboard, doesn't have the same spacing of notes, and secondly, you can't play chords on a keyboard. But a cheap piano on e-bay. They have awesome deals and even if you buy an electric keyboard and no amy, it doesn't matter. Real electric piano all have a headphone input so you can listen to what you are playing without an amp.

They are pretty much the same thing. The touch is a little different, but other than that, they are the same.
